As you work your way through Part I in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, you've no doubt noticed the big desert region on the west side of the Dagda world map. This is the Nysiades Desert, and you might be wondering how you explore this region. Maybe you've already started exploring it, but you were looking for some help. That's where this page comes in.

Firstly, let me note that Cai cannot explore the desert in Part I. His access to the world map is somewhat restricted to the other three protagonists (Diestrich, Theodora, and Leda). So, if you are currently playing Cai's Path and are wondering how to access this region, the short answer is you cannot. The desert will become explorable in Part III, however.

The red paths in the desert are temporary. What I mean by this is that, unlike every other path drawn on the world map, these do not stay drawn on the map once you've traversed them, as they will 'disappear' behind you. They can also only be traversed in one direction, which is why the red paths are drawn with arrows, unlike the black or green paths.
It is important to note that traversing red paths is significantly slower than traversing any other route on the Dagda World Map. This is because you can only travel 1-2 nodes at a time, not the usual 3. This means you should ensure that you have plenty of time before your next objective when exploring the desert. You don't need to explore the desert all in one go, either. Either way, the diagram above should help you plan your routes ahead of time.
The black vertical path on the east side of the screen, between Gorbea Stronghold Ruins and North Zorto Stronghold, is a permanent path through the desert. This is basically your starting point, at least the first time you traverse the desert, starting at Tarvos North Road or Tarvos South Road.
The vertical green path in the diagram is special. You can think of it like a shortcut across the desert that appears once you get to Baina Oasis the hard way. Once you've traversed the red path, east to west, to the oasis, then the green shortcut will appear. This makes reaching Baina Oasis much easier on repeat visits; you don't have to navigate the slow desert path each time.

There's nothing to find here in Part I - no enemies or treasure chests. However, if you come back here in Part III, you'll find a somewhat secret Dungeon called the Palace of Sand. So, keep that in mind for later.
While the diagram above should have enough information for you to figure out your bearings, sometimes people want to see what the location actually looks like in game. The screenshot above shows the desert after it is fully explored in Part I. Note that while the desert locations will stay visible to the player once they are found, the paths themselves disappear. That's the whole reason this page exists, really, to help you recall the path directions without relying solely on your memory.
