The Elder Scrolls 6 is reportedly about to get its long-awaited subtitle, and fans may have cracked it months ago.
That would mark a rare sign of life for a game Bethesda announced back in June 2018 and has barely discussed since. In fact, even when Xbox moved Obsidian under Bethesda’s roof during September’s restructuring, the RPG stayed firmly under wraps, which left fans picking over every crumb they could find.
Now, though, a huge one has dropped.
Elder Scrolls 6 is reportedly called Sentinel
What’s more, Warren said the Xbox-owned publisher could announce the name as soon as November, which would line up neatly with Skyrim’s 15th anniversary on November 11.

While Warren only expected a name reveal, he also picked up a few extra details along the way. Sentinel will reportedly take players to Hammerfell, the province previously explored in The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard and The Elder Scrolls Online.
On top of that, it will be the first entry to dig into the history of the Elder Scrolls themselves, the mysterious ancient artifacts the series is named after.
The name didn’t arrive out of thin air, either. Back in August, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma watched a live playthrough of the game and posted that “the story is even greater,” but she wrote the title as “The Elder Scrolls VI: ********.”
Fans quickly counted the eight asterisks masquerading as a subtitle and landed on Sentinel, a Redguard kingdom and port city in Hammerfell. Adding fuel to the fire, former Bethesda writer Michael Kirkbride replied “Yep” to a Reddit post floating the theory, although Bethesda itself had not officially confirmed the title.
If the Sentinel reveal lands as reported, the fans who decoded those eight asterisks back in August will have earned their bragging rights, and Bethesda’s hotly anticipated RPG will finally have a name emblazoned on it.
