Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has decided to somewhat close the loop on a certain chapter that Namco opened nearly a decade ago. Geese Howard had already made his way into Tekken 7 as a DLC character, and from the looks of things, SNK may finally be returning the favor. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves already has crossovers galore at this point, so why not add another one to the mix? The official Twitter account dropped the tease right in time for the EVO France major this weekend.

Rock and Geese are seen doing the usual ground-to-skyscraper staredown before a familiar-looking shadow suddenly appears in the background. Rock can sense that someone is there, but unfortunately, he’s looking in the wrong direction. The mysterious person escapes before Rock can figure out who it was, leaving him questioning what he just felt.
AdvertisementThat shadow certainly appears to match Reina Mishima, the newcomer from The King of Iron Fist Tournament. With Kazuya already destroying the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster and Heihachi previously joining PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, it seems Reina could be next in line for another crossover we might not forget. To be honest, I was hoping for Yoshimitsu or Blade… err, Raven, but Reina would still be an interesting choice.
AdvertisementOf course, several questions immediately come into play. How did she get here, will she obtain a certain curse, and what is her true motivation? Since this is the Revenge Arc, perhaps Geese could end up being the target of Reina’s goal. Reina is already one of the more ambiguous Tekken characters to enter the fray, so putting her into this situation only makes things more interesting.
There’s also the matter of translating a 3D fighter into a 2D fighting game. If Street Fighter X Tekken taught us anything, this could either be incredibly fun or completely broken from the jump. Wave dashing to avoid a Power Wave, anyone? Reina is already an aggressive rushdown character in a 3D space, so there’s a good chance her 2D interpretation could carry that same mentality. And yes, I’m also wondering whether her famous throne room chair will somehow make an appearance.
With Katsuhiro Harada working ever so diligently with his newfound team, VS Studio, within SNK, there could even be some fatherly input from Mr. “Don’t Ask Me For Sh!t” himself regarding how Reina translates into the world of Fatal Fury.
AdvertisementThis might end up being the most crossover-heavy season of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves yet. The Tokyo Revengers boys have already received their trailers, with their release set for October 22. The two are considered separate DLC characters, though both occupy the fifth slot on the season’s lineup. Laocorn will be next, followed by what certainly appears to be Her Highness Reina taking the final spot.
October 22,2026, also marks the digital launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. The Starter Edition will also arrive that day, bundling the base game together with Season Passes 1, 2, and 3. Between the Switch 2 release, the incoming DLC characters, and this latest tease, SNK clearly isn’t slowing down with City of the Wolves anytime soon.
